Stuff About Me
I’m a mommy, wife, pastor, avid grimdark fantasy fan, photographer, graphic artist, and an author who is in the throes of writing her first book. You may have heard of me (chuckles). No, you probably haven’t. I just wanted to say that. If you’re curious about what I’m writing, check out the draft version on my Wattpad Page called ‘Emeline and the Forest Mage’. If you’re an agent, I am looking for representation.
Herewith follows twenty random facts about me that you don’t really need to know, but that I’m sharing anyway because I can.
I have a past many people would not envy. That being said, I know there are stories ten million times worse than mine. It’s not really that bad… just not that good either. I am very passionate about things that are important to me, and can thus royally annoy those closest to me with obsessive behaviour. I like change. Apparently that’s rare. I like to travel, and I have the voice of an angel (humility isn’t on the list. Can you tell?)
I hated my name until age fifteen when Jesus found me. Oh, and on that note, I am a Jesus follower who hates religion but loves Him. You think that’s crazy? Well, my experiences with Him have been too real to deny, and He is the best answer I can find for the craziness of life. I’m married to a pastor who loves to study apologetics at all hours of the day and night, and the result is that I can tell you how the big bang proves God’s existence. I think being an atheist takes too much faith and that truth is not relative or subjective.
I am obsessed with writing and reading fantastic fantasy or delicious prose (or combinations of the two) Favourite Books in my favourite genre by order of my fawning adoration over are:-
- The First Law Trilogy and other Joe Abercrombie books. (mouth agape)
- The Name of the Wind and other Patrick Rothfuss books. (drools)
- The Broken Empire Trilogy and other books by Mark Lawrence. (slavers and pants)
- Gentlemen Bastards Series by Scott Lynch (OMG – read this!!)
- A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin (of course).
- Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins. (What? I like it, okay?)
- Kristin Cashore’s Graceling Trilogy.
- The forest of hands and teeth by Carrie Ryan.
- Casquette Girls by Alys Arden (Wattpad).
- The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S Lewis
- New Addition, Lord of the Rings books by J. R. R. Tolkien (This is a classic must read, people)
Really, the list goes on much longer than that, but let’s end it there.
If you’ve ever heard of DISC profiling, I’m ID. That means I like parties, and I don’t mind telling you what to do to. If you’ve ever heard of the Myer Briggs Personality profiling thing, then I’m ENFJ, which to me means I’m constantly misunderstood and driven by helping people. I love cats, and have loved them since I can remember. I love sweet stuff, and by that I don’t mean romance and flowers, but candy. Jelly babies, especially sour ones (drooling again). Art and music are in my blood, probably inherited from my granddad. Guitar, singing, photography, and graphic design are favourite expressions of this taint in me.
Give me what’s real above what’s convenient.
I’m around 70% anti-system. Look it up.
Okay, so for the last one let’s have something weird. I like blood. Not to drink (sheesh it’s not THAT weird). I mean that I like to have the stuff pumping in me, I like to write and read about it being shed, I like what it symbolizes, I like its colour, and of course I like that Jesus shed his for me a long time ago.
Alright, if there’s anything else you want to know, (whips out AK47) none of your business. Just kidding (kind of, cause I don’t have an AK47), you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
